Chris Usher 

Chris is a director at Cavenwell Group, where he works with a diverse range of wealth management professionals, supporting clients ranging from multi-generational High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net worth (UHNW) families to digital entrepreneurs around the world.

Chris also works with private banks, lawyers, accountants, and other financial services professionals to support them and their clients in protecting their wealth through the efficient use of wealth structuring vehicles.

With over 25 years experience in offshore financial services, Chris previously held senior wealth management roles with Barclays Wealth and Santander. During this time, he advised private clients and corporates on a wide range of global investment solutions to meet their often-complex needs. With a deep understanding of geopolitical and economic dynamics, Chris helped clients to navigate the ever-changing international wealth structuring environment, whilst maximising tax efficiency of their position. Additionally, Chris was the Chief Executive of Jersey International Business School and then Managing Director of BPP, specialising in the education of offshore financial services. Chris is a non-executive director at the School of International Financial Services (SIFS), a leading provider of training and education in 15 jurisdictions around the world.

Chris has trained over 6,000 people in qualifications for the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) in wealth management and is a well-regarded member of the Institute. He also serves on the committee of the Channel Islands Wealth Managers Association and is a member of the Institute of Directors.

Cavenwell Group is an owner-managed, independent and digitally enabled fiduciary business specialised in providing global wealth structuring and administration solutions to entrepreneurs, high-net worth individuals and their families.


John Salmon

John Salmon 

John Salmon is a highly experienced information technology (IT) lawyer with a market-leading reputation in the financial services sector. His main focus is advising financial institutions on their strategic IT projects and he supports his clients in implementing innovative digital and technology solutions whilst managing legal and regulatory risk. John has a leading reputation as a lawyer in the FinTech area and has been heavily involved with leading-edge developments. John has been actively involved in developing industry-wide solutions particularly in the sharing of data. Recently he has been heavily involved with open banking and open finance, having advised the Open Banking Implementation Entity in the UK since its inception including as interim general counsel.

John leads Hogan Lovells Digital Assets and Blockchain practice and has advised major banks and startups in this area. He spends a great deal of time educating regulators, policy makers and clients in the area of blockchain and crypto and has spoken to the European Parliament, IOSCO and many governments on this area.

In addition, John has extensive experience of drafting and negotiating both customer and supplier IT services contracts, including for development projects, software licensing, cloud, and systems integration.


Anne-Gabrielle Haie

Anne-Gabrielle Hai 

Anne-Gabrielle Haie advises clients on a wide range of digital-related matters, with a strong focus on data protection, privacy and cybersecurity. In addition, she has developed considerable expertise on AI and blockchain.

She advises clients on compliance with EU laws and risk management. Anne-Gabrielle also has strong experience advising clients on data privacy and cybersecurity issues related to strategic transactions and commercial negotiations. She further assists clients with cybersecurity preparedness and response to data breaches and other security incidents.

Anne-Gabrielle's practice include representing clients in enforcement and litigation actions before European supervisory authorities and courts.

Her clients include multinationals, start-ups and scaleups in diverse industries, and she has a strong track record in the Life Sciences and Technology sectors.


Dr. Janet Bastiman

Janet Bastiman 

Chair of the Royal Statistical Society’s Data Science and AI Section and member of FCA’s newly created Synthetic Data Expert Group, Janet started coding in 1984 and discovered a passion for technology. She holds multiple degrees and a PhD in Computational Neuroscience. Janet has helped both start-ups and established businesses implement and improve their AI offering prior to applying her expertise as Chief Data Scientist at Napier. Janet regularly speaks at conferences worldwide on topics in AI including explainability, testing, efficiency, and ethics.

Head of the Digital Jersey Academy, Rory leads the Island’s first Centre of Excellence for digital education to up-skill, retrain or help people take those first steps into any technology-focused field. He has always been a passionate advocate of early adoption and strive to be at the forefront of innovation. Jersey is taking the right steps to prepare for a more technologically influenced future, the Academy’s purpose is to facilitate the training for these new digital jobs.

The evidence digital literacy can have a dramatic impact on local culture was proven when he conceived and delivered the first gigabit school in Europe at Beaulieu. With 1:1 devices, online learning and campus wide super-fast WiFi, on JT’s fibre network, we transformed education for students and teachers, proving Jersey’s capabilities on a global scale. Working as an Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Innovator and Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, Rory believes global trends in education and technological innovation can be scaled more quickly in Jersey to deliver vast improvements. However we will only grow if we are prepared to take risks, fail fast and embrace change more readily.
