John is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in Wealth Management and joined SIFS in 2024 to transition into the realm of professional education and training. Having spend 8 years working across Private Banking and Investment Management, John has honed his skills in financial advisory, investment strategies, and client relationship management within the dynamic field of Wealth Management.

John has successfully navigated clients through the complexities of financial markets, guiding them towards their financial goals with precision and expertise. John’s experience encompasses a wide range of financial products and services, coupled with a deep understanding of market trends and investment opportunities. 

John is a Chartered Fellow with the CISI and holds a First Class Honours Degree in International Financial Services from the University of Buckingham. 


Emily Osborne

Partner at Stephenson Harwood LLP

Emily Osborne 

Emily provides international private wealth and tax advice to families and trustees of family trusts on a variety of issues. Her areas of expertise include establishing wealth preservation structures such as offshore trusts, foundations and companies, family governance and business succession planning, residence and domicile advice, the reporting of beneficial ownership under the various global initiatives and structuring the acquisition and ownership of UK residential property.  

Emily also works closely with families on their philanthropic objectives, including advising on establishment, administration and governance of UK charities and other not-for-profit organisations, as well as advising on charity and UK tax implications of proposed donations and helping to set, monitor and implement philanthropic initiatives. 

Much of Emily's work has a cross border element and she has a particular focus on the Middle East, often advising on the use of local structures to hold regional assets, alongside any international structures.


James Badcock

James Badcock 

James Badcock is a leading private client lawyer specialising in trusts, estate planning and taxation. He has deep experience advising private clients, family offices and trustees from around the world on matters including governance, succession planning, taxation, philanthropy and fiduciary risk management. He also brings his trust expertise to bear in contentious matters.

James qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and from 2011 to 2019 was a partner at a central London law firm. He transferred to their Geneva office before returning to the UK as head of Private Client. James subsequently held a senior role in the legal division of a ‘Big 4’ accountancy firm in London.

James is named in Chambers High Net Worth 2021 for Private Wealth Law where one interviewee commented, "He has a lot of cross-border experience, he is good at dealing with clients and knotty issues. He is a very amenable lawyer, he is very strategic in his thinking and knowledgeable.


Ramona Azzopardi

Partner, Head of Tax at WH Partners

Ramona Azzopardi 

Ramona Azzopardi is a preeminent figure in Malta on taxation matters and is recognised as one of the leading taxation lawyers in the country. She heads the tax and private client department at WH Partners.

She regularly advises corporate clients in the gaming and gambling, financial services and digital services industries on their cross-border tax implications. She also assists HNWI families in estate and tax planning. In addition to this, she has extensive experience within the blockchain sector and was involved in the drafting of the guidelines in relation to cryptocurrencies on VAT, Income Tax and Duty on Documents. She has worked in a wide range of cases in this industry and assisted on all tax-related matters in more than 20 Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs). Furthermore, she recently contributed to the chapter on taxation and crypto assets in a book: DLT Malta – Thoughts from The Blockchain Island.

Ramona holds a Doctor of Laws Degree and Masters in Financial Services from the University of Malta. She is a regular speaker at tax conferences and often contributes articles to prominent publications. She is also a Council Member at the Malta Institute of Taxation. She was recently asked to take the position of Malta’s National Reporter for the IBA’s Taxes Committee. The International Bar Association (IBA) is the foremost organisation for international legal practitioners, bar associations and law societies. The present membership is comprised of more than 80,000 individual international lawyers from most of the world’s leading law firms.


Hugues Salomé

Hugues Salome 

Hugues Salomé is a Partner for Tax & Legal. He advises families, family offices and privately-owned groups on a wide range of tax and legal matters. He started his career with the Swiss tax authorities and, after a few years, switched to consulting. For more than 25 years, he has been working at top tier international audit and law firms where he gained significant experience in advising companies, private clients, fund managers and family offices.

He became a partner of at one of the Big4 in 2009 and set up his own tax firm in 2017. In 2019, he joined KPMG as a partner to take the lead of its Family Office and Private Clients practice in Geneva.

Hugues Salomé is a frequent speaker at events and regularly publishes contributions on Swiss as well as international tax matters.

Throughout his career, Hugues Salomé has been advising corporate and individual clients on Swiss and international tax matters. 


Nimesh Shah

Nimesh was appointed as CEO of Blick Rothenberg in August 2020, having joined the firm in 2012.

His background is in personal tax and he has had over 15 years’ continuous experience in practice. Nimesh specialises in the interaction of personal and corporate tax matters, advising predominantly entrepreneurs from across a variety of industry sectors on all aspects of their personal and corporate tax affairs. This includes their company’s business life cycle – from start-up and growth through to business exit.

Nimesh is regularly approached to comment on tax matters in the media including the broadsheets and personal finance publications, and have made appearances on radio and television. He can also be found speaking regularly at a host of events on tax issues.

His career highlights include his appointment as CEO of Blick Rothenberg, as well as being recognised for several leading industry awards including eprivateclient’s ‘50 Most Influential Private Client Professionals’ and Spear’s ‘Top Recommended Tax Accountants’.

Nimesh has a keen interest in the UK’s tax policy and regularly input into Government consultations including stakeholder meetings with HM Revenue & Customs and HM Treasury. He is passionate about both improving the UK’s tax system through simplification and reducing barriers and compliance requirements to promote entrepreneurship in the UK.

Jonathan Burt has spent 30 years advising international entrepreneurs and business and wealth owners. His clients typically have a connection with the UK through tax residency, citizenship or domicile, or invest in UK businesses or real estate. His clients invariably have interests in foundations, trusts or companies, often outside the UK, which hold businesses or investments internationally.

He is an expert adviser on UK resident non-domiciled individuals, their assets in and outside the UK and their trust structures. He does a lot of complicated cross-border estate planning for international families who hold assets in different countries. He often advises on people moving countries and the global tax and immigration issues which those people must consider.  Jonathan is often sought out by clients and intermediaries for some of the most complex and difficult cross border trust and tax issues.  He has built a leading reputation for working out the solution to complex cross-border legal conundra.


Tomaso De Simone

Tomaso De Simone 

Based between Rome and the Multi-Family Office in the Principality of Monaco, Tomaso helps families and private clients to reach their goals. His areas of expertise are wide-ranging and include advice to high and ultra-high net worth individuals, individuals with non-domicile tax status, entrepreneurs and onshore trustees. Tomaso has years of experience advising banks and private equity firms. He also has extensive experience in reaching tax audit settlements with the Revenue Agency. Tomaso has years of experience advising clients on personal tax matters. His special area of expertise is the taxation of individuals with non-domicile tax status. He has detailed knowledge of national and international advisory issues, including international corporate tax planning and tax group structures. Tomaso has dealt with the tax aspects of M&A and restructuring projects, and of private groups owned and controlled by families; in particular, he has acquired wide experience in the tax affairs of family-owned businesses.
